With a Little Help

Well, thanks to Devin I finally got around to finishing some of my projects. I think he finally reached his limit of seeing unfinished things in the house. So he got on my case and we got some things done. I am much better at getting things done when I have a little encouragement. Hopefully I will still be able to finish things when he is so busy with school.

Anyways, the first thing we did was sand and stain a dresser that I have had since high school. I'm kind of embarrassed admitting that I have had it that long and still haven't done anything to it. Oops. I must say it looks a lot better and is much more functional now that there are actual handles on the drawers.Devin didn't mind this project too much because we got to buy a new power tool. :) Doesn't the finished project look so much better? Our next project was one that Devin didn't even want me to keep in the first place. I found the top of this side table at the DI for $6 and I just needed to add the legs (which I got for free) and a coat of paint to complete it. Well, it sat on the floor (with decorations on top mind you) for way too long. I was almost to the point where I wanted to toss it too - almost. But we got the legs on and after 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint it is complete. And I must say I think it turned out pretty cute. You wouldn't really appreciate the transformation unless you saw the before pictures, but it was too ugly I couldn't even bring myself to take a picture of it. It was pretty pathetic. But now it looks great!
With all this encouragement from Devin, I also painted a lamp that I have not liked since we got it (it was shiny gold, black just looks so much better), I've gotten a few pillows sewn for our couch, and we are working on getting a picture project done for Amy's nursery. Pictures will follow once everything is done, but I think it is going to be pretty cute. Thanks so much Devin for being patient with me and helping me finish my projects. I really wouldn't get half the stuff done I do if it wasn't for you.

Wow Mel...those all look so fun. I didn't realize you had an entire blog devoted to your projects. What a good idea! I would love to see your other sewing projects (Mom says you are constantly sewing!) Love the shower curtain and updated furniture!:) I'm not that ambitious;)
