Headbands

So I normally make Amy's headbands out of nylons, but I saw one that my cousin had made out of elastic and loved it. You can click here for where she ordered her elastic. What is nice about the elastic is that there are so many more colors. I think I ordered almost every color they had. And the elastic has a softer stretch so you can make one size and it'll fit her for longer. With the nylon ones we had to make different sizes as their head grew. These bands are made with the 5/8" elastic.Through a little trial and error I think I finally figured out how to make them. The hot pink one was my first one. I sewed the little clip holder on so that I would be able to flip the headband over if I wanted to. One side is shiny and the other side is dull. It worked great for flowers because everything was sewn together in one spot. But when you clipped a bow on it you could see the stitches where I sewed everything together on the band and I didn't like that. So then I made the light pink one. I sewed a little circle of elastic and slipped it on the band. It was skinnier and couldn't be seen with a bow. But I had to have it cover the part where I sewed the elastic together for the band and it didn't seem to stay put very well. I didn't really like seeing the sewing stitches if the bow did slide around (and I don't have thread to match every color of elastic that I got). So the torquoise was the most recent one that I made. I decided to hot glue the ends together. (I also hot glued the circle thing that slid on.) I just put the part that I glued together at the back of her head and you couldn't see it. Then it also didn't matter if the top part moved around a little bit. And hot glueing it together was tons easier than trying to sew the little, slippery elastic. So I think I have got it figured out now and I am going to get the rest made. Good thing Amy doesn't mind wearing them. :)
