Dresser Makeover

So I found this beauty by our dumpster. It was a little rough around the edges, but you can't beat free! With much pleading, I convinced Devin that it would make perfect toy storage for Amy. He didn't really want to drag more furniture into our already full house. Which is very smart thinking, but I just had this vision - so I made him do it. :) And it was much more functional than what was there before: a fancy side table with no storage at all. Not the best piece of furniture for a kids room. However, it was not the most beautiful thing to look at. Every time I walked into her room I hated seeing this mass of toys. I really like things neat and organized. So obviously this wasn't going to last long. With a little love I turned it into this...Ahh, much better. I built the boxes out of plywood, painted them white, and modge podged some fabric on the front. Then I attached some handles so they would be easier to pull in and out of the slots. I also put craft felt on the bottom of the boxes so that it wouldn't scratch up the paint as I pulled them in and out. I used this idea to make my seat cushions. Super easy and much cuter than what I had there before. If you are wondering, yes my toys inside the boxes are organized in tupperware. I just had to do it, I couldn't help myself. :)

Overall I am very excited with how it turned out. The best part is that Devin is now happy that I made him drag it inside during a rain storm. Woo hoo! Now if I could only pull the rest of her room together I would be set.

I can't believe how good that looks. Wonderful job! Tell Devin to let you drag more stuff in if it is going to look like that. :)

That is great! That is pretty much what we want by our front door. And you got it free!
