My next remake was a cardigan I got from my mom. I actually have worn this one a few times but while browsing Marshall's I ran across a super cute find that would work perfect with this sweater. So I decided to revamp it a little. Here is my before...
And here is my after...
Basically I just cut off the big cuff around the neck, cut it in half and sewed it back on. Then I used my extra fabric for the ruffle. This time I used my sewing machine to ruffle and it was so easy. I just set my tension to "0" and stitched where I wanted my ruffle to go. The fabric ruffled as I went. It worked great for this project and I will definitely be using that technique again.

Cardigan Revamps
There has been a million tutorials in the blog world lately about remodeling sweaters. If you want a little inspiration check out this blog. Every day this month she is revamping a sweater. Some of them aren't really my taste, but some of them are super cute. But whatever your style, she at least gives you some ideas of how to look at a sweater like you never would have before. She also has great tutorials on how to resize too big sweaters and even how to turn then into cardigans. Well, I had a few in my closet that I tackled this week. Don't worry. I have more I want to do, but this is all I have done for now. Here is one before shot. Nothing really wrong with it, but I just never wore it.
So I used this tutorial as my inspiration and turned it into this...
I LOVE the yellow one in the tutorial and still want to make me one like that, but I had the black stuff on hand. So it will have to suffice me for now. To make my sweater into a cardigan, I took a 2 inch strip of interfacing and put it on the inside of my sweater right down the middle. Then I ironed it in place. Next I cut my sweater up the middle, serged the edges (or you could use bias tape), folded it back about 1/2" and sewed my seam down the front to finish it off. Super easy. You could add buttons and button holes if you would like but I didn't want to worry about that.

Those turned out really cute! I love the last one. Maybe I will do it to the burgandy color cardigan :)
Those look awesome! I absolutely love the idea of revamping clothes that you never wear! I really need to get my sewing machine out more. By the way this is Melissa (obviously), not Creighton
