Kid Stuff

I have been trying to make a few things for Amy that we can do together that are somewhat educational. I have pinned tons of things on Pinterest and decided I should probably make some of them. It's been fun and I can't wait to get more done.

This first idea I found here. I loved her idea to use magnets instead of velcro for her file folder games. I also liked her LDS themed pages. Great idea to take to church with us instead of a ton of toys. My first page is Noah's ark. I found it here. I just glued the page to cardstock and stuck it in a sheet protector. Then I used contact paper to laminate the little pieces. It worked great. I think I want to buy one of those books to get some more LDS file folder ideas. There weren't too many free ones to print online. But still, I'm excited about the potential with this one.
This next post had tons of ideas. I have just done a few of them but more are to follow. I printed off some sequencing pages then cut them out and hooked together with a ring. In her example she used a cut up noodle, but I had these big beads lying around and figured they would work as well. Now Amy can work on her sequencing colors and numbers. She has liked playing with it so far. It's fun.
I also used the idea of sorting. I had this old plastic container I wasn't using and filled it up with goodies. Here it is all put away.
You can sort by number...
Or color...
This one has been fun. It's helped with her counting for sure. We also had some big Melissa and Doug wooden flashcards (similar to these ones). I have put all the alphabet letters on the floor in a big circle and then she has to match the picture to the letter. She has had fun doing that. Our set came with numbers 1-30, colors, and shapes. So we have lots of circles on the floor for her to match. She likes sitting in the circle and it's good practice. We have done quite a few other ideas like the playdough mats, magnet pom poms (great for playing with and working on patterns), and some other random things. There is a bunch of things I want to make for Derek too but he isn't quite there yet. He is still putting everything he finds into his mouth. So his goodies will have to wait. But it has been fun working on some new things for us to do together. I'll have to post more when I get them done.
