To make I just covered a piece of cardboard with felt (or you could use fabric) with a pocket on one side made out of a clear vinyl and another pocket made out of interfacing. The felt shapes stick k the interfacing but you can still see the pattern behind it. I sewed three sides, flipped it right side out, and then hand stitched the top closed. Easy peasy.
I got the pictures from my mother in law but there are lots of sites online that have free printables. You could even use it to make tangram shapes. Those could easily be made easier or harder depending on the age of your child. I will make more pictures for Amy that she will be able to change out for some new variety. You could also make pattern pages where they complete the pattern or any other idea you can think of. It's nice because it's compact, versatile, and Amy thinks its super fun. Bonus. This toy is a keeper.

I love this idea! I saw it on Pinterest and am excited to make one for our huge cross-country road trip we have coming up. I have a question though, I have searched and searched online for printables like this but can't find any (my search terms apparently aren't the right ones...). You mentioned that you can find them online...do you know where or have those links? If you don't mind, would you please email me any info that you have on those? Or, if you can't find any either, can the set your MIL has be purchased? Do you know what it's called? Thanks so much! amandacarter3@gmail.com
