Ruffled Pants

I get weekly emails from youcanmakethis.com, and this week I couldn't resist. I had to buy a few of their new patterns. One of them was a pair of super cute ruffled pants. So yesterday I got busy and made Amy a pair. I had to size them down a little and I wanted to make them shorts instead. I also only did two ruffles and ended up adding a tie. Anyway, here they are.
The back.
I used a new foot on my sewing machine that I have never used before. I guess it is called a hemmer foot. It was amazing! It would fold your fabric and sew a tiny hem. They made hemming my ruffles so much easier. I don't have a serger so I couldn't roll hem them and I think a big hem or double folded ruffles would have looked funny. But this little hemmer foot did the trick. I am definitely going to have to use it more often. I loved it! And here is Amy in her new shorts. Sorry the pics aren't the greatest. She is wiggly.
There you have it. They sure doll up a plain old onesie. I think I am going to shorten the ties though. Once I got them on her they looked a little long. But all in all I think her little ruffled shorts turned out pretty cute.
