Chandelier Lamp

While in Utah I went to the coolest store with my sisters. It's called Dear Lizzie. They are way overpriced but have some great ideas. One I just had to try. It was a chandelier lamp. I was going to just use a lamp I had at home but I stopped at Goodwill to see what I could find and I stumbled across this little gem.
I know it doesn't look like much now, but with a little love and imagination it turned into this:
Beautiful huh. If you want to see more details on how I made this, keep reading.

First you strip your lamp down to the bare minimum. This is all I was really interested in. Those 3 little lights are so cute!
Then paint it any color you would like. I painted mine a really cool oil rubbed bronze. But white would be really fun too. Or even turqoise if you were feeling brave.
Then you take your lampshade,
rip the outside fabric off and spray paint that too.
Next is the fun part. You will string on your beads. This part would have been a lot easier if I bought the prestrung strands of beads, but I wanted to use what I had so it took much longer. I ended up using tigertail and crimp beads to attach my strands. But however you attach them would be just fine.
Keep adding strands of beads until it has the look you are going for.
Then start wrapping tulle around the frame. I bought one roll of tulle from Michaels (found in the wedding section) and had enough for this lamp. I wrapped about 6 times for each of the 6 sectionx just so you have an idea of what I did.
And here it is all finished up. I ended up adding a few more crystal dangles once I had it all wrapped up in tulle. It needed a little something extra. I also added a crystal to the topper but you can't see it very well in this picture. But it helped tie everything together.
And here it is glowing in her room. So cute! I don't think I will ever turn her overhead lights on again.
Now if I can convince Devin that this isn't too feminine, I am going to make some for our room but with black tulle and a pueter finished lamp. I think they would be so cool. Anyway, that was my fun project. I really enjoyed doing it and it helps that I LOVE how it turned out. Don't you love projects like that? Click here to see the one my sister made. Her's is super girly and cute - she even added flowers!

That looks beautiful. I know I only want to turn on Madison's lamp now too! Good job.

My grandma has that exact lamp in her basement, its sat on the same dusty table for nearly 40 years! I wish she would let me dress it up some, yours is so cute!
