New Diaper Bag

I just finished up my first project for the baby. Well, it's mainly for me, but I do need a new diaper bag to use for the little guy. So we can count it as a baby project. :) I used this awesome pattern that my sister created for her Izzy 'n Ivy pattern company. It's called the Nicole Bag. The pictures really do not do it justice. It's a great bag. Here is a picture of my finished project.
I just love the colors. They look so fresh and fun. And very gender neutral so I should be able to use this bag for a long time. While this pattern was amazing, I did add a few changes to it. I added some swivel hooks to the handles so that I could change the handle to use it as an over the shoulder bag if needed. I can just hook the handles together and then hook them to the other o'rings on the side of the bag. Cool huh!

I also added a panel on each of the front sections and then sewed some dividing lines down them which resulted in 4 extra pockets. You can never have enough pockets. These ones are going to be used for my phone, keys, and other things that I need some easy access too. Maybe a binkie pocket?
I also added a zipper pocket on the back using the zipper instructions on this pattern. If you didn't want a zipper pocket, you could add more panels and have even more pockets on the back. My other sister has a diaper bag with pockets all the way around and let me tell you, she uses them! However, I wanted a zipper pocket so that is what I decided to do.
Inside, the pattern had lots of pockets. There were two pockets on each side, plus this amazing zipper divider pocket down the middle. I added a couple extra pockets on one side of this big divider. I just couldn't help myself. :) I am thinking one can be my receipt pocket. They are always causing chaos in my bag. Anyway, I love the divider because it makes your bag much more functional. Maybe I just like being extra organized and having a spot for everything, but it will be so nice to have my bag sectioned off. I think it makes it much more functional. Now it won't become a giant "black hole" like Devin calls my purse now.
Anyway, that is my latest project. I love how it turned out and can't wait to use it. I think it just might be one of my favorite bags ever. You should all make one. :)

What a wonderful bag! Funny, just today I was thinking about the yellow and gray fabric that we found together at JoAnn's.

I am in desperate need of a new diaper bag (still trying to convince Daniel of this) and this one looks great! I might have to get this pattern.
