This project has been on my To-Do List FOREVER! I saw a similar idea at a cute boutique in Utah. Obviously their's was much cuter than mine and also much more expensive. I wasn't going to pay $100+ for it so I tried to figure out how to make my own. It's a monthly calender that you can write on with dry erase markers and magnets also stick to it. Here is my bare bones version:

I need to go buy some better dry erase markers, but these are just what I had on hand and I wanted to get this posted. Also, I haven't had time yet to make my other magnets. I wanted to make some for everyone's birthday (a picture of their face), date night, temple night, doctor appt, and any other events that occur often. But I haven't done them yet. Maybe I'll have to post another picture when I get them done. But for now this will have to do. On the back of the frame you can store your extra magnets.

All I did was find a frame. Mine was 16 x 20. I then had a piece of sheet metal (24 gauge) cut to size. For the calendar part I wanted a cute piece of paper but couldn't find anything I liked. You don't want anything too thick because the magnet needs to stick through whatever you have to the sheet metal. You could use a fun wrapping paper or even a light weight fabric, but I ended up using tissue paper and using my spray adhesive to stick it down to a white piece of tracing paper. Then I drew on my calendar lines and stamped my days. Inside the frame I put my glass, then my calender, and finally the sheet metal.
On the back of my monthly tags, I put a small piece of magnetic tape.

Then on the front of my frame on top of the glass I put an extra strong magnet. My month tags just stick to the magnet and stay on the frame. I can then change them out every month and I only had to worry about finding 1 really strong magnet instead of 12. I have found lots of magnets that work great for sticking through the glass, but not every magnet does. So be sure to test it. Also, when making your extra magnets to put on, I wouldn't do any super heavy decals. The extra weight might drag the magnet down. So just test them out.
Here is a close up of my calendar:

I kind of wish my paper wasn't quite so bland, but it'll work. I think if I add some more magnets on there it'll help. Only one 3-dimensional tag looks kind of silly. I need some more. :) Instead of making monthly tags you could even find some cute alphabet letters and just spell out the month. I also want to make some fun number magnets for the days of the month so I don't have to write them out each month, but it'll work for now. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my fun new idea. I am really excited about it and can't wait to get it completely finished. :) Hopefully it'll help keep our family more organized now that Devin has a job and we have to have grown-up schedules. he he
