Some Clothes for Me

I thought I would be adventurous and try to make myself a skirt. I have never attempted this before so I was a little nervous. But I am fairly happy with how it turned out. I had to put a zipper in and everything. My first zipper ever in an article of clothing. And it actually looks pretty good. There are a few things I would have done differently if I made it again, but I am happy with how it turned out and will actually wear this one in public. :) That is the ultimate test.

While checking out one of my new favorite websites (sewing.craftgossip.com) I found this fun tutorial on how to refashion an old shirt into a fun new ruffly one. I found an old wrap around long sleeved shirt that I never wore anymore and decided to use this new tutorial to doll it up. So I cut off the ties and used them as my ruffle, then sewed up the middle of my shirt so it was no longer a wrap around. Here is how it turned out.
Now I think I will wear it. I also dolled up another one of my shirts with a little inspiration from this site. I got the instructions from my little sister. You just cut up hearts out of a knit fabric, gather them up the middle, and randomly stitch them down on your shirt. Easy huh! I love how this one turned out.

Melanie, I LOVE all of them! They are so cute. I would definitely wear that skirt too. You're making me want to pull out my sewing machine right now....I think I will so that I can finish a project I started yesterday.
