Bluebird Costume

A friend of mine from Morgantown asked me if I could make her little boy a Halloween costume. He wanted to be a blue bird. Here is how it turned out.
And here's the back. I love the wings.
For the base I just used a pattern I had for a raglan sleeved sweatshirt. I cut it a few sizes too big so that it could be stuffed. I just made up the wings and stitched them on. For the hat I used this free pattern. It was so fast and so easy. I am going to have to make a few more of them. Here is Amy modeling the outfit. This was before I put elastic in the waist, but you get the idea.
It was hard to get her to hold still because she wanted to flap her wings.
Hopefully little Lewis will enjoy his bird costume. Amy liked trying it on. But she informed me multiple times that she was going to be a witch for Halloween, not a bird. :)

melanie, these are great!!!! I have tried to get ayslin to let me make her a witch costume, but every year she insists on being a princess. *sign* oh, well. If she ever lets me make her one I will know where to look. I might just have to make one of the bird costumes though for a dress up, it is too cute!
