Amy's Room Makeover

Well, I am pretty much done with Amy's room makeover. Here are a few of the things I made for her new and improved room. I made this memory board to hang above her dresser. I had originally intended it to be a bow holder, but changed my mind and am using it as a picture holder. For her bows I made this instead. I also made her chandelier lamp and new runner. I found the tiered stand at TJMaxx and use that to store her flowers. The little bucket was $1 at Michaels and has all of her bracelets and sunglasses in it. She loves to pull it down and fish out what she wants to wear for the day.For above her bed I covered some big 20X30 foam boards with fabric. Then I made flowers to spell out her name. Amy loves to point out the letters and tell me what they are. It was a great way to fill up a big wall.
In front of her bed I still have her rag rug that I made for her awhile back. I have good intentions of making her a new reversible rug with something cute on the front and a car track with houses on the back. But who knows when I will get around to that. So her rag rug will have to work for now.
**Her mess of animals on the floor is now contained in a freshly painted basket. I just don't have a picture. Sorry!
My sister showed me this fun idea about how to make crepe paper roses. I thought they were really cute and decided that I would cover Amy's otherwise bland mirror with them. Many hours and burnt fingers later, here is how it looks...
It works great to hang above her new bookshelf. Amy loves having her books easily accessible. I also recovered the lamp shade, made her topiary, and the runner. I added a pink ribbon ruffle along the edge and the back is out of a stripe so I could flip it over if I ever wanted to.
Above her chair, I painted her shelf pink, antiqued it, and made a few more topiaries. I think it looks very cute with her appliqued profile picture I made for her.
All of this sits above her newly repainted chair. It looks much better brown than the maple color it was before. I even made her a couple pillows. I used this tutorial for the ruffle one. It turned out very fun.
I also recently revamped her toy dresser. You can check that project out here. I just have her curtains left and her room will be complete. At least until I think of something else I want to add to it. :) Devin says it is the girliest room he has ever seen. Well, what do you expect for a girl's room. Anyway, it has been fun working on projects for her room but I am glad the end is near. I'll post pictures of her curtains when I get them all done.
