Kids Room Part 4: Storage

With the kids dresser now being put in front of the window instead of in the closet, their toy chest is now going to have to be moved. I thought about putting it in the closet, but we have sold some furniture recently so there was room for it out in our main room. Which will kind of be nice anyway if Amy wants her toys and the baby is sleeping in the room. Now that it's in our living room, it really needed to be redone. Pink and brown just wasn't going to cut it. I was going to have to redo it anyway since it was a little too girly for a boy. Here is the before:
I still love how it turned out, but it just wasn't going to work in our living room. So I just flipped the drawers around and added some new knobs. I can flip the drawers back around if I ever put it back in the kids room so that is nice. I thought about adding some molding around the drawers, but haven't done it yet. For now this is how it is going to look. Sorry the picture is blurry. Our camera struggles sometimes. And I want to change those pillows on top as well. They have never really been my favorite.
Since the kids are going to be sharing a dresser, I needed a little more storage in their room. I purchased this storage unit from Kmart. I was lucky enough to be able to get it on sale - almost half off. It was a great deal for a storage unit that even included the boxes. However, the bright primary colors were not going to work. So I thought about it for awhile and figured out how to recover them. And here is how it looks in the room. It's the perfect resting spot for our little man's lamp.
Here is a close up. Just don't look too close. The boxes aren't perfect, but they will work.
I'm excited to see how it looks next to the crib. Too bad the room really won't be all put together until we move back. It's kind of hard to get it completely done with half our furniture in Pittsburgh. :) Only about a week and a half left until the big moving day! I'll have to post the big reveal when I get everything done. Who knows when that is going to be. I only have a few more things on my sewing list, but then I have to figure out what to hang up on the walls. Lots to think about. :)
