Lace Pettiskirts

While browsing on Etsy I ran across this super cute dress, (I bet you can guess what etsy site it is from?) and I really loved the lace layer underneath the dress. I thought it was attached, but after emailing her she told me that it was a lace pettiskirt. So I started my hunt and only found one for sale but it was $65. Yikes! So I decided to make my own. I found a bunch of tutorials and other sites that would help me make my own (I will list them below if you are interested) but finally decided to just buy a pettiskirt and take off the fluff layer and add my lace. Simple enough. The cost of the pettiskirt was totally worth the HOURS and HOURS of time saved in cutting and ruffling all those layers of chiffon.

Anyway, here is the before shot (I found this beauty on eBay and it is excellent quality.)

And the after:Doesn't it look so fun? I can't wait for Amy to wear it. I also made her a black one. This one I found at TJMaxx and used the extra fluff to make this skirt.

I really wish I could find a brown one already made but I haven't yet. I might just have to break down and make her one from scratch. Anyway, here are some helpful sites if you want to venture out and try to make one of your own.
Lace I used 3" lace on the white one and 2" lace on the black one.

TUTORIALS:
Pettiskirts by Martha Stewart (if the link doesn't work, type pettiskirts in the search box)
Pettiskirt Pattern by YouCanMakeThis.com (this one is free and has great tips on how to make your ruffles even.)
Anyway, hopefully these links will help. Good luck and let me know if you make one of these. I would love to see it!

Those turned out way cute and so much easier than by scratch. Love them!
