Some Maternity Remakes

I decided since I am still waiting on a car to take me to Joann's so I can start working on the kids new room, I figured I should probably finish up some projects I have had in my project bin for awhile. So yesterday I got started and fixed 2 maternity skirts and some pants (I basically just sewed on stretchy waist bands), took in 2 maternity sweaters that were slightly too big, and decided to do a little remodeling of some other shirts I had lying around.

This first one was a sweater I found at Gabe's for $1. I wasn't sure what to do with it when I got it but I figured something would come to mind. Here is the before...
Here is the after.
I decided to turn it into a maternity sweater since it is so cold up here in Pittsburgh. I just cut the sweater round the middle where I wanted the waist to be and then flipped the bottom part upside down. I sewed the bottom hem onto the top of the shirt so that it would cinch in a little around the middle. I also took in the sides and the sleeves. I think it turned out pretty cute. I am trying to figure out if I want to change the neck but am not sure how to handle that. So for now it'll have to be done. And here I am modeling my new shirt at almost 24 weeks.
I also had 2 maternity shirts that I no longer liked, so I decided to cut them up and make some little dresses for Amy. Here are the befores...
And the afters...
Amy didn't really want to model them but she was a good sport. The deep V on these shirts kind of made it hard to remodel for a little girl dress, but I think they will be ok. Once the summer comes around we'll try them on again and see if they need some small tweeks. If they end up not working they would sure be easy enough to turn into some fun knit skirts. :)

Anyway, those are a few of my maternity remakes. I am glad to have them all off my list. Now I have 2 other projects I need to get finished up. I wanted to make me a super cute gray skirt and I also need to finish up some washcloth puppets I have cut out for Amy. Once those are out of the way then I won't feel so bad working on baby stuff. Wish me luck!

I can't believe you can whip this stuff up so easily! I wish I could! But they look really good :) it's always nice to get something like that done. By the way, I was wondering if you know of any tutorials to make a little church vest for a baby boy. I've got some fabric (from you) that I'd like to make a vest out of for Max, so let me know if you know of any :) Thanks!
