Halter Dress, Top & Skirt
I found this really cute tutorial for a halter top dress that I just had to make. I got the red shirt at Wal-Mart for $1.00. I paired it with some of my favorite leg warmers. But it still needed something, so I made her a matching headband which was so fun and easy. (For other headband tutorials look under my Hair Bow & Flower Ideas on the side of my blog.)
But I couldn't just stop with one dress. So I decided to make her a shirt using the same general idea. The fabric I used was actually some cotton from a pair of Devin's pj bottoms that he hasn't worn. I used the hem of the pant legs as the hem of her shirt so I only had to sew the top. I am just thrilled with how it turned out. Her skirt was also made using the above tutorial but I just made it a little shorter and didn't add the ties. Doesn't she look so cute?
I got the idea for the ruffle along the top here. And the tutorial for the flower in the middle can be found here. It has been so fun making these dresses and tops. They are really so simple it's crazy! They are fairly versatile too. When she gets bigger she can wear her red dress as a shirt or even a skirt. Her blue top can also be worn as a skirt. I love multifunctional clothing. Anyway, I hope you like these tutorials. From now on I am going to take a closer look at the clothes I throw away. It might just make a darling dress for my little Amy or an unsuspecting family member. :)
