Headband Tutorial

I have had some people ask how to make these headbands. So here is my try at a tutorial. hopefully it makes sense.
To make this headband you will need a glue gun, needle and thread, some ½” ribbon, and some nylons. You can use ladies knee highs, regular nylons, or even kids nylons. However, I like the knee highs the best. You can get them at Wal-Mart in the little round containers and they are only 33 cents for a pair. The stretch is a little softer and they are not as wide so they work perfect for little baby heads. However, the nylons do come in more colors and designs if you want some crazy headbands. Those are super fun.
If you are using nylons and not knee highs, cut the nylon to the desired length. Just measure around your babies head to get the measurement. Cut the same size as the measurements. That way when you are finished it will be a little smaller than your babies head so that it won't fall off. Make sure the nylon lays flat. Fold the ends over so there is a little overlap.
Zig zag the needle and thread through both layers of nylons.
Pull the needle through (making sure you don’t pull the thread all the way through) and zig zag the thread the other direction.
Pull the ends so that you can tie them in a knot.
Pull tight. Tie knots until you feel it is secure.
Cut off the excess nylons. I pulled the entire headband up and held the extra nylon in my thumb. Make sure you pull it tight and cut as close as you can to the thread.
Here is how it should look now.
Put a dab of hot glue on the headband on one side of the seam. Place the end of the ribbon on top of the glue and press down tight.
Put glue on top of the ribbon that you just glued down. In other wards, put glue in the exact same spot. Wrap the end of the ribbon tightly around the headband and attach to the new glue spot. Hold tight to secure.
Cut off the excess ribbon and you are done.
For a slight variation, you can use elastic instead of nylons for your headband. This headband was made out of 5/8” elastic. But the 1” elastic also works. I have a white 1" elastic headband and I LOVE IT! I made the 1" elastic headband following the above instuctions.
